Detentions in Lefkimmi lead to one arrest

Only one person was arrested following the three detentions at Lefkimmi police station on Sunday night. The 26-year-old man was charged with possession of flares and once the charge document was completed he was released.

There was, however, a good deal of unrest in Lefkimmi where residents are continuously protesting against a 'police state' and intimidation especially since the arrival of the riot police (MAT) at the beginning of the summer. As soon as they heard about the detentions residents gathered outside the
 police station in protest.
