Transfer of the town΄s seafront to the Municipality in the final stages

PIRAEUS. Following Alexandroupolis and Kavala it΄s now the turn of Corfu.
The transfer of responsibility for the town's seafront from Corfu Port Authority and the Hellenic Public Real Estate Corporation to the Municipality of Corfu has now entered the final stages.
According to the plan, the arrangements for Alexandroupolis and Kavala will be settled first. The matter was discussed at the Association of Greek Ports Assembly, of which Corfu Port is a member, represented by the President and Managing Director Spyros Stefanidis. He told Enimerosi that by 14 October at the latest representatives of the two ports will have to have submitted their reports to TAIPED (Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund), which will be open to remarks from the other ports, including Corfu.
Immediately following these ports will come the turn of Corfu - regarding the seafront from Cafe Yiali as far as Anemomylos. These boundaries are determined by the fact that - as revealed recently by Enimerosi - the upcoming invitation for tenders from Corfu Port Authority for some of its activities covers, apart from cruise ship management, the small harbour at Cafe Yiali for tourist boats and the so-called Mega-Yacht Marina northwest of the present port boundary as far as the fishing harbour at the Emporiko Kentro - at least that is what is outlined in a previous proposal study.
