CORFU. Corfu Recyclable Waste Sorting Centre (KDAY) is once again (since Monday 9th July) under the management of RecyclingWorks ΙΚΕ, owned by G & S Lavranos, who also managed the Centre from 2006 to 2016.

According to a statement from the company: In collaboration with the Hellenic Recovery Recycling Corporation (EEAA) - which KDAY, Corfu Municipality and
the Solid Waste Management Association (SYDISA) belong to - and other organizations, the aim is to increase the extremely low percentage of recyclable waste which is being processed at the Centre at present to at least the level of the previous management period.

The company aims to achieve its goals using the experience and know-how from the previous period of management and with an outward-looking programme in cooperation with the public. At this difficult time for Corfu as regards waste management, a strong alliance of all the sectors of the local community is the most important factor in order to achieve recycling objectives on a local and national level.

It is recognized that an increase in the percentage of recyclable materials is the first and most basic step in the development of an integrated waste management plan. To this end RecyclingWorks will make every effort to ensure that Recycling, which is operating below its potential at present, reaches the levels required on a national and European level.
