Roundabout fountain needs approval of Central Archaeological Council
CORFU. Approval for the construction of the fountain goes beyond Corfu Antiquities Inspectorate.
It seems that once again the Central Archaeological Council (KAS) is going to have to decide on an issue regarding the entrance to the town from Corfu Port. The Antiquities Inspectorate does not have the authority to approve the Port Authority’s proposal to construct a fountain on the roundabout opposite the eastern entrance/exit and so it is going to have to go to KAS.
On the previous occasion when there was some miscommunication between the Port Authority and the Antiquities Inspectorate regarding the design of the port entrance, they came to an agreement with KAS, the plans were adjusted and the obstacles were overcome.
Now again KAS is going to have to decide on a construction issue at the port entrance and the only problem is the amount of time it will take for approval to be granted - so that the Port Authority can put the whole thing out to tender again and within the original budget.
