ATHENS. In talks with the Single Air Navigation Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority Fraport has put forward a proposal for reduced operating hours
at Greek international airports over the 2017-18 winter period.
According to an exclusive report in money-tourism.gr, the only airport they propose to keep open on a 24-hour basis for the period 29 October 2017 – 24 March 2018 is Thessaloniki, whereas Rhodes, Corfu, Chania, Kos and Santorini will have limited operating hours.
A source at Fraport who was asked by money-tourism.gr said that, “The prime aim of the company is to maximize operating hours at the airports. However, an airport operating even during hours when there aren’t scheduled flights doesn’t lead to an improvement of its operations. In any case, this is a proposal which will be discussed with the responsible authorities. We would like to emphasise that the expedition of airport operations and maximising their operating hours with as many flights as possible is our main priority.”
According to information, Fraport’s proposal for the operating hours of Greek airports is as follows:
Thessaloniki 00.01 – 24.00
