Two arrested in Corfu and Zakynthos for animal deaths

(Ionian Islands Regional Police Department) Two women were arrested on Saturday, August 22, by police officers in Corfu and Zakynthos. Separate case files were filed against the two women for violations of animal welfare legislation.

As part of investigations into relevant complaints, officers from the North Corfu Police Department and the Zakynthos Police Department proceeded with the arrests of the two suspects after, in each case, they were found to have been involved in incidents resulting in the fatal injury of a dog and a cat.

During the preliminary investigations, the administrative fines provided for under the law were imposed, as applicable. The two women were brought before the competent Public Prosecutor’s Authorities in their respective jurisdictions.
