CORFU. ΄Mantzaros΄ Philharmonic Society performed to a packed audience at the Municipal Theatre.
'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society put on their traditional Holy Monday concert last night, performing works especially for the Easter period.
Statement from Society President Ioannis Trivizas:
"The highlight of the concert was "Banja Luca" by J. de Haan - his signature work dedicated to the eponymous town in Bosnia which was almost completely razed to the ground in the civil war in the '90s and retains a powerful symbolism up to the present.
It is not by chance that we performed this work in our concert, which we titled "In Peace" - a message that is particularly relevant at this time.
We would like to give warm thanks to the musicians, the conductor Socrates Anthis as well as to the conductor Spyros Rouvas and Natalia Capodistria, who coordinated the concert and above all to the Corfu public who always honour and support us.
We wish everyone a happy Easter with peace and health."
