CORFU. The items had been collected from offers of businesses, municipal and other bodies, as well as residents from all over the island during the recent fire.
The North Corfu Municipality donated on 17 August two tons of food, water, juices and other items to the Smile of the Child in Magoulades. The delivery was made by the Deputy Mayor of Circular Economy, Social Policy and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali and the North Corfu Civil Protection Supervisor Giorgos Mavropoulos, in the presence of the Smile of the Child President Kostas Yiannopoulos. Also present was Sotiris Pavlopoulos, head of the organisation's volunteer firefighting team. The abovementioned items had been collected from offers of businesses, municipal and other bodies as well as residents from all over the island during the recent fire.
Mr. Yiannopoulos informed that in the framework of the constant and constructive cooperation with the North Corfu Municipality, the Smile of the Child will carry out actions in the near future related to the training of employees and volunteers of the Municipality on issues of missing children, missing adults at risk and emergency issues. Also by the Municipality's side is the organisation's volunteer firefighting team, which once again stood by the firefighters who battled the flames in the July fire.
The North Corfu Municipality would like to thank our fellow citizens for the humanity they have shown. Once again, it is proven in a practical way that with a team spirit and a sense of solidarity we can achieve a lot for the benefit of our society.
