Hundreds gather to listen to ΄Old΄ Philharmonic Epitaphio rehearsal in Corfu Town

CORFU. Yet again this year, Nikiforou Theotoki St. was packed with people eager to hear the ΄Old΄ Philharmonic Band rehearsal and get a taste for what is to come in the next 24 hours.
Every year on the Thursday night before Good Friday it is a popular tradition amongst Corfiots and visitors to gather outside to enjoy the Philharmonic Bands holding their rehearsals of the funeral marches they will play on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.
Yet again this year, Nikiforou Theotoki St., in the heart of the old town, was packed with people outside the premises of the 'Old' Philharmonic Society - the oldest in Corfu, formed in 1840 - to hear them rehearse and get a taste for what is to come in the next 24 hours leading up to the Resurrection.
