CORFU. A car travelling in the direction out of town near the sports ground hit a woman pedestrian.
An 88-year-old retired doctor was killed on the road in Garitsa at around 09:30 on Sunday. She was hit by a car travelling in the direction out of town near the sports ground.
A police car and an ambulance arrived at the scene immediately but the efforts of the paramedics were unable to save her. She was taken to hospital, where death was confirmed.
An investigation is being conducted into the circumstances of the accident.
