CORFU. 32 arrests for various offences.
Between 18:00 on 19 August and 02:00 on 20 August police in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada carried out checks for the following:
- Theft and burglary
- Dangerous driving
- Violations of regulations at catering establishments
- Drug dealing
- Illegal immigrants
639 vehicles and 753 individuals were checked, leading to 32 arrests - 12 in Corfu, 11 in Zakynthos, 8 in Lefkada and 1 in Cephalonia - for the following offences:
- 4 for drug offences
- 4 for theft
- 5 for illegal residency
- 6 for driving without a licence
- 5 for noise pollution
- 1 for playing music outside legal time
- 6 for working without health certificate
- 1 for illegal trading
Police seized 33.9g of cocaine, 120.6g of unprocessed cannabis and products being sold illegally.
There were 344 driving offences, including the following:
- 6 driving under the influence
- 36 speeding
- 13 not wearing seat belts
- 73 not wearing crash helmet
- 1 running a red light
- 9 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 14 without driving licences
- 1 with uninsured car
- 1 without MOT
44 vehicles were immobilised for driving without a licence, driving under the influence, not wearing crash helmets and being without MOT.
