Protestors: Work with rights, life with meaning
CORFU. The main demand of the strikers was the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries, as well as substantial wage increases.
There was a demonstration on the streets of Corfu Town for yesterday's strike. The protestors gathered at the High Schools and headed toward the Workers Centre, where workers, unions and associations joined.
The strike declared by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) was due to the government's policies, which have outraged the public, in opposition to rising prices, the housing crisis, and low wages.
The main demand of the strikers was the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries, as well as substantial wage increases.
The message of yesterday’s strike was clear: 'No tolerance for the devaluation of labour and the violation of human rights.'
People were out on the streets, demanding the obvious—justice, dignity and respect for labour—against any policy that undermines them.
