Primary school teachers on strike on Wednesday

This school year is the most difficult we have ever had. Since July, the government has been engaged in a pogrom of threats, blackmail and witch-hunting of newly appointed teachers. They are trying, with a knife to the bone and a leash around the neck, to impose the anti-educational evaluation system—a strategic step toward dismantling public education and subjugating teachers to their plans.

Without exaggeration, education is living through days of White Terror. A small group of willing education officials is doing nothing else but focusing on the "Evaluation Operation" and the subjugation of teachers. It has already leaked that they are preparing a new pogrom of teacher persecutions in the coming days.

• Abolition of the evaluation framework and defence of the democratic functioning of teachers' associations.  Stop the pogrom of teacher persecution by the Ministry of Education. Hands off the right to strike.
• No to class mergers. 15 students per class. Legislation of a minimum ratio of 2 square metres of clear space per pupil in classrooms.
• Minimum salary for teachers of €1,200, automatic adjustment for inflation, restoration of the 13th and 14th salary – Genuine Collective Labour Agreements.
• Abolition of anti-pension laws, restoration of our pension rights.
• Mass hiring of teachers. Immediate hiring/permanent appointment of all substitute teachers based solely on their degree and experience.
• Equal working hours for teachers in small kindergartens and primary schools as all other colleagues in primary education, and equal working hours with secondary education teachers.
• Money for Education and Health – Get Greece out of the war slaughterhouses.
