CORFU. Second day of sit-ins at 1st and 2nd High Schools and Agros Junior and High School.

Another two schools in Corfu are holding sit-ins since Tuesday morning, while the 1st and 2nd High Schools and the Agros Junior High and High School are in their second day. According to the Ionian Islands Regional Directorate of Education, as of today, Corfu 3rd High School and the Kato Korakiana Vocational High School have joined the protest.

The sitins are taking place with the contentious issues being both the police intervention that took place on January 18 to end the sit-in at the 1st and 2nd High Schools, and the draft law for the establishment of private universities.

Pupils are also raising other demands regarding the increase in funding for schools, the abolition of the minimum entry base, and the Bank of Topics.

Remote Learning

The Regional Director of Education, Petros Aggelopoulos, told Enimerosi that lessons are being conducted online.

The Teachers' Union (OLME) has declared a strike-abstention from distance learning in the occupied schools, pointing out that educators are not obliged to provide remote education in the occupied school units.
