CORFU. New programme from the Public Employment Service (formerly OAED) in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Protection General Directorate of Criminal and Penitentiary Policy.

The new specialised vocational training programme from the Public Employment Service (DYPA) in the field of Culinary Arts - Pastry began at Corfu Prison today, Monday 13 November.

The programme, with a total duration of 350 hours, is designed for 10 inmates and is being implemented by the Public Employment Service Ioannina Professional Training Centre. It is part of the collaboration between the Public Employment Service and the Ministry of Civil Protection General Directorate of Criminal and Penitentiary Policy.

Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to perform the necessary tasks for the preparation and cooking of meals and desserts in restaurants and pastry shops. They will be able to properly utilise kitchen equipment, ensure necessary hygiene and safety standards in the workplace, and approach the job market with a positive attitude following their release from the correctional facility.

The Public Employment Service (DYPA) prioritises the design and implementation of innovative vocational training programmes targeting inmates. The goal is to enhance their knowledge and skills in professional fields that are in demand in the job market, providing substantial support for their reintegration into society upon release.
