Capodistrian Development in European ΄URBACT IV΄ Programme
CORFU. The head expert and the members of the project team presented the programme΄s structure, the set goals, and the next steps required for its implementation.
Within the framework of the Central Corfu and Diapontian Islands Municipality's participation through the Development Agency 'Capodistrian Development S.A.' in the European 'URBACT IV' Programme, specifically within one of the two town networks participating under the title 'Re-Gen' with Verona as the lead city, a meeting was held today in the event hall at Faliraki. Present at the meeting were the Deputy Mayor for European Programmes, Development and Digital Governance and Vice-President of Capodistrian Development S.A., Panayiota Tzanne, along with potential participants in the programme, the head expert of the Raffaella Lioce network, the representative from the Municipality of Verona, and the project team from the Development Agency.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the programme's structure, the set goals, and the next steps required for its effective implementation, both by the head expert and the project team members.
An analysis was also conducted regarding the pivotal role that the involved parties will play during their participation in the so-called 'Local Action Group,' which is a fundamental component of the programme's success. Also highlighted were the benefits that will accrue for the local community, both during and after the programme's completion. Representatives from local organisations participated in the meeting.
The aims of the programme are as follows:
- Utilising cross-border networks to enhance the administrative capacity of European towns.
- Enhancing the skills of beneficiaries in planning and implementing sustainable urban development policies, practices and innovative solutions with a comprehensive participatory approach focusing on the space.
- Ensuring access to knowledge and URBACT practices for policy and urban development actors for further utilisation in local, regional, national and European urban policies through the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and the Urban Agenda for the European Union.
The expected outcome of participation in this programme is the development of an Integrated Action Plan (IAP) related to the central theme of the city network in which the Development Agency is involved.
The Integrated Action Plan provides towns with a specific and stable response to their policy challenge. It follows a logic of intervention aiming to design and implement evidence-based actions.
The Integrated Action Plan will link the actions of towns to the Cohesion Policy Funds to support long-term implementation. The programme's duration is 2.5 years, and additional meetings will follow.
