Unknown persons throw dogs over animal shelter gate at night to get rid of them
CORFU. Report by the shelter manager - The strangers have been caught on video that has been posted on social media.
As the Tierhilfe Korfu manager reported, 21 dogs have been dumped lately by hooded strangers at the animal shelter in Neohori, South Corfu, and they even use a ladder to throw them over the gate.
In a post on social media, Uta Engelhardt stressed that there is limited space at the shelter, as are the places where animals that may be sick are isolated.
"Through our surveillance cameras we know that it is the same group of people every time. In the last few weeks there have been 21 dogs in total. 21 dogs!
We've reached our limit - not only financially, but also our capacities in the quarantine are severely limited."
She also pointed out that the animals can be hurt if they fall from a height or be traumatised by the experience.
Police sources, however, assured Enimerosi that no official complaint has been made to the authorities.
