Dog dies in heart of historic centre
CORFU. Witnesses say it appeared to have been hit by a car.
A large white dog was fatally hit in Kofineta, in the historic centre. Witnesses report that the animal appeared to have been struck by a car.
Locals and tourists were shocked by the sad sight of the bleeding and dying animal.
A member of the public contacted the police as they deemed it unusual for a dog to be fatally injured in a traffic accident in Liston.
The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. and police cyclists arrived promptly. Police sources report that the animal was not a stray and that its owner was present.
A municipal vehicle later retrieved the dog's body, and a cloth was left at the scene to cover the pool of blood.
