Traffic congestion puts early end to pilot measures at Tria Gefiria

The numerous complaints about traffic congestion on the connecting main roads due to the pilot changes to the traffic flow of vehicles at the Tria Gefiria junction, caused the traffic measures that were in force to end earlier.
 
For this reason, the Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas, seeing the multiple problems himself, informed the Ionian Islands Regional Technical Works Department in order to bring the road back to its normal operation from tonight, as he told ERT Corfu.
 
Mr. Zorbas said that the pilot traffic arrangements were applied in order to measure traffic and record the data to improve traffic conditions on the main roads around the town, through a study carried out by the Technical Works Department. As he explained, these measurements had to be carried out during peak periods on the island in order to record the actual data.
 
As the Deputy Regional Governor for Technical Works and Infrastructure Manolis Orphanoudakis had told Enimerosi, the measures were to be in force until Sunday or Monday, so that there would be a second measurement at the weekend.
