CORFU. There were five votes for and two against.
The result of today's meeting of the Finance Committee, which cancelled the previous decision to award the €7.3m cleaning contract, was as expected. Today's decision was to award a new €6m contract.
The members of the majority party voted in favour - Meropi Ydraiou, Giorgos Pantelios, Yiannis Seremetis, Nikos Kalogeros and Panayiota Tzanne.
Thos who voted against were Fani Tsimpouli and Yiannis Triantafilides.
Giorgos Kaloudis and Panos Varouchas were absent.
Representatives from two workers' unions, who are protesting against the award of the contract to a private company, intervened during the meeting and also blocked the entrance for a few minutes at the beginning as a symbolic gesture.
The workers said that they intend to legally contest today's decision.
