CORFU. The Regional Authority is looking for 100-200 stremma of land within the Central Corfu Municipality.
The Regional Authority is finally moving forward with the creation of a business park in Corfu - a vision that began with the initiative of the former Deputy Regional Governor Sakis Tsoukas.
The Regional Authority has already called for an expression of interest since Thursday 10 November to find a plot of land for the creation of a business park in Corfu and it has submitted the bids for the update of the initial study.
These are basically the first two very important steps so that this vision will slowly start to take shape. These two issues have been discussed at the recent meetings of the Corfu Business Park Development Company (Corfu EANEP) Board, thanks to which the go-ahead was given for the procedures to begin.
Searching for land
In particular, Corfu EANEP is inviting all interested land owners with 100-200 stremma within the Central Corfu Municipality to express interest by submitting the necessary supporting documents until Wednesday 30 November at 15:00.
The land that they wish to sell or dispose of in any other way for the creation of a business park in Corfu, should consist of one or more plots of land next to each other, which will eventually constitute a single plot. Those who qualify from the procedure will be invited within 30 days to participate in the next stage, during which the way of transaction and the whole procedure for the acquisition of property by Corfu EANEP will be determined.
Two plots of land
The previous Regional Authority had found two plots of land for the creation of the business park. One was in Alykes, Potamos, near the Kontokali Hotel (about 130 stremma), which was however deemed unsuitable by the company's current management. The other is in Gouvia (170 stremma), but it is mortgaged to Piraeus Bank.
As the Deputy Regional Governor for Environment and President of Corfu EANEP Spyros Ioannou told Enimerosi that the company had not ruled out the possibility of finding other plots for this purpose, which it did with the call for an expression of interest.
"We want to give it another chance and evaluate new plots of land as well. The study for the suitability of these plots will be carried out by the technical consultant who will be responsible for the updating of the economic and technical study of Corfu EANEP and for whom a call for tenders has been issued", Mr. Ioannou told Enimerosi.
He added, however, that if there is no interest from landowners, they will proceed with what they have available. "If the 170-stremma plot is eventually selected, we will discuss with the owner company and Piraeus Bank to find a solution," he explained.
Technical consultant
EANEP announced the tender for the update of the 2018 study. In fact, the update is a prerequisite for the Central Corfu Municipal Council to take a decision on the Municipality's participation in EANEP with a share capital of about €6,700.
Those interested must submit their bid by Wednesday 23 November. The services to be awarded are for the provision of consultancy and study services, which will take into account the existing regulatory framework, current land prices, works, studies and staff salaries, current market conditions and needs and the supply of land in Corfu.
Detailed information on the progress of the Corfu business park and the publication of these two invitations will be made on Tuesday 15 November at a press conference to be held at 12:00 at the former prefecture by the Ionian Islands Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa and the Deputy Regional Governor for Environment Spyros Ioannou.
