IONIAN ISLANDS. Due to their nature, these businesses do not benefit from the various programmes.
The Deputy Regional Governor for Business and Competition Giorgos Stasinopoulos held a teleconference with the Presidents of the Ionian Islands Rental Rooms & Apartments Federations. They discussed all the issues that the rental sector is facing – a sector that includes thousands of small and, mainly, family businesses.
They pointed out that, due to their nature, these businesses do not benefit from the various programmes, an issue which must be resolved during the next programming period.
They highlighted the problems that have arisen, such as the problems with lifeguards and lifesaving equipment and their ever-increasing cost, as well as the issue of the repayable advances they will have to repay, which will make it even more difficult for businesses to meet their obligations.
“The Ionian Islands Region and our Regional Governor Mrs. Rodi Kratsa are standing by the rental sector, especially now that they are being challenged by the effects of the continuous crises. Small businesses are the backbone of the Greek economy and we need to support them in every way we can”, said Mr. Stasinopoulos.
