Italian Ambassador meets Corfu Deputy Regional Governor

CORFU. Italian Ambassador, Patrizia Falcinelli, came to Greece and paid a courtesy visit to the Corfu Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas’ office.
On 7 October, 2021, the Italian Ambassador Patrizia Falcinelli paid a courtesy visit to the Corfu Deputy Regional Governor Konstantinos Zorbas’ office.
The Italian Consul in Corfu Friderikos Valsamis, as well as officials of the Ionian Islands Region and the Italian Embassy in Athens, were also present at the meeting.
The Italian Ambassador stressed that this is the first official visit of the Embassy since the Covid-19 pandemic and our Region was chosen because the Ionian Islands are a popular destination for Italian tourists.
She assured that an effort will be made to increase the number of Italian tourists next year and, also, stated that she wishes to organise cultural activities with Regions of her country.
Finally, she thanked Mr. Zorbas for the way he dealt with the pandemic on the Ionian Islands, which resulted in Italian citizens feeling that they are visiting a safe destination for 2021.
The Deputy Regional Governor informed about the cross-border programmes between Greece and Italy, which are being implemented in the Ionian Islands Region. General issues regarding cooperation between the two countries, in terms of cultural and tourism programmes, were also discussed
