CORFU. Those who receive Digea’s digital terrestrial signal from the broadcasting centres will need to retune their receivers (TV or decoder) on July 13.

The TV programmes will now be transmitted to new frequencies, while the signal from the old frequencies will be permanently cut off.

The reason for the retuning

According to a decision byf the European Parliament, the spectral dimension of 700 MHz currently used by digital TV must be released for new applications from the mobile networks (5G). Consequently, the new transition is essentially being done to carry out the transfer of TV networks to the spectrum that remains for digital TV.

By carrying out the necessary retuning of the receiver in the early hours of Tuesday 13 July, High Definition (HD) channels will automatically appear provided that they have a TV or a decoder that supports HD technology.

To retune your receiver you need to follow the following steps:
- go to your receiver’s menu,
- select “Installation” or “Settings” (different wording may be used depending on the receiver),
*if automatic tuning is selected, the receiver searches for and stores in its memory all available programmes,
*if manual tuning is selected, the receiver stores in its memory the programmes of a specific frequency,
- at the end of the search, press OK / YES
- select exit to watch the desired programme.

If you get a black screen after retuning, the receiver has probably retained the channels already stored with their previous frequencies, which are now inactive. As a result, it is not able to store them again. If this happens, it is recommended that you delete all stored programmes and reset them. Alternatively, you can reset your receiver to its factory settings and then reset.

If after retuning you see a black screen on some channels, the station name and you hear sound, then your device does not support downloading programmes in High Definition (HD). You can continue to watch your favourite programmes in standard definition or alternatively you can purchase an external decoder that supports High Definition download.
