ATHENS. The Government spokesperson stressed that, "With the exception of those working, anyone outside after 22:00 on Christmas Eve will be stopped by police."
Members of the public are to use Code 6 if they want to visit friends and family on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, said the Government spokesperson Stelios Petsas. He once again asked that people "don't widen their circle too much - just visit mostly people that they are in contact with anyway."
"With the exception of those working, anyone outside after 22:00 on Christmas Eve will be stopped by police," Mr. Petsas stressed in an interview today.
Talking on ANT1 TV channel, the spokesperson added that, "If someone and his or her family are in the car driving somewhere else, they need to bear in mind that there will be a heavy fine," and said that the same will apply at New Year.
He said that more checks are being planned because, "The situation has been improving over the last few days and we need to safeguard that." He also asked people to come together for family Christmas meals in the afternoon rather than at night.
