Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias announces additional coronavirus measures

ATHENS. "We need to be vigilant - not panicking but acting responsibly and conscientiously, strictly adhering to the measures," said Nikos Hardalias wearing a mask with the Civil Protection logo.

Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias gave an extraordinary coronavirus update yesterday following the 78 cases recorded in Greece in the last 24 hours.

Mr. Hardalias announced the following measures:

- From 1 to 31 August the wearing of masks is mandatory in all indoor spaces, including churches, with the exception of eateries.
- Until 15 August visits to facilities with vulnerable groups, hospitals and retirement homes are suspended.
- Until 15 August medical visits to hospitals are prohibited.
- From 3 to 15 August ceremonies for life events such as christenings, marriages and funerals are restricted to 100 people each, whilst adhering to  social distancing.
- Nightclubs, bars, live-music venues, bar-restaurants, cafes and such may only allow seated clients, not standing-room.
- Recommended social distances must be observed at beaches, and public and private boats, throughout the month of August.

The suspension of air and land connections with Turkey, Albania and North Macedonia is extended to August 15.
- From 1 to 15 August there is a strong recommendation that masks be worn outdoors when social distancing is not possible.
- The ban on traditional fairs (panigiria) has been extended to the end of August.
- Anti-coronavirus curfews and group exodus restrictions at all refugee accomodation facilities and hotspots nationwide are extended to August 31.

According to a joint ministerial decision on Friday between the Ministers of Civil Protection, Health and Immigration, the anti-coronavirus curfews and group exodus restrictions at all refugee accomodation facilities and hotspots nationwide which have been in force since 23 March are extended to August 31.
