CORFU. Despite the current difficulties, ΄Mantzaros΄ Philharmonic Society has produced a special online video for the anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece on 21 May.
Adhering to all health guidelines, 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society has produced an online video 'Celebration of the Union of Ionian Islands with Greece - 21 May 2020' for the 156th anniversary of the Union.
The 75-minute video with music and talks includes a variety of artistic activities focussing on Heptanese (Ionian) Music. The video 'event' includes talks by musicologists Gerasimos Martinis, Kostas Zervopoulos and Dimitris Brovas and performances by baritone Sotiris Triantis, pianist Praxilla Botou and the Philharmonic Woodwind & Brass Ensemble - all performing works by Ionian composers.
The online video will 'air' at 11:00 on 21 May on all the Philharmonic Society's social media accounts. It will also be posted on YouTube at the same time and be distributed to all the local media for all the Corfu public to enjoy.
The Society President Ioannis Trivizas said: "On the occasion of our local anniversary and the religious celebration on the same day we would like to wish everyone many years of health and hopefully in 2021 we will be able to celebrate this day as in previous years and in the manner it truly deserves."
