΄Old΄ Philharmonic Band not taking part in 5th Avenue Parade because of coronavirus

CORFU. The Band΄s planned participation in the celebratory events in New York for 25th March has been cancelled.
Due to the large increase in the number of coronavirus infections strict measures have been adopted and Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in New York City.
Following this development, the 'Old' Philharmonic Society decided to call off its participation in the parade.
The Society's President Spyros Padovas told Enimerosi that it wouldn't be prudent to risk the health of over 100 musicians. After discussion with the Ionian Cultural Federation, it was decided to put off the trip until next year. Mr. Padovas said: "It is more than likely that there will be even bigger celebrations as next year will be the 200th Anniversary of the Greek Revolution."
