CORFU. The Red Cross was in Annunziata Square on Saturday morning to provide information to the public about first aid.
"World First Aid Day," they said, "was established by the Red Cross and the message is to fight social exclusion. First aid is important for our fellow citizens and the Red Cross, with its 140-year history, is the recognised first aid organisation.
What we are doing here today was organised in collaboration with the Corfu General Hospital Blood Donation Unit, with whom we work directly on an almost weekly basis."
The Red Cross representatives said that there was a very good response from the public and a lot of new volunteers gave their names to help with the work of the organisation.
