Regional legislation for the protection and promotion of Corfu wetlands

CORFU. The legislation (385,000 Euros budget) relates to Antinioti Lagoon and Fonissa River, Korission and Lagoudia Islets, Alyki Lefkimmi and the coastal zone between Kanoni and Messonghi.
Ionian Islands Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos signed five new acts of legislation with a budget of 1,659,208 Euros as part of the priority programme Ionian Islands 2014-20 "Protection of the Environment and Sustainable Development" (and a total 12 acts, with a budget of 3,866,401 Euro, for projects to protect, conserve and gently develop ecosystems and areas of natural beauty).
The first of these five regional projects is for Corfu:
1. Management Organization for the Straits and Tributaries of the Rivers Acheron and Kalamas - "Projects to protect, conserve and gently develop protected wetlands in Corfu" - with a budget of 385,000 Euros.
The legislation relates to management activities for the protection, conservation and promotion of Corfu's protected wetlands. The NATURA 2000 protected areas in Corfu are Antinioti Lagoon, Korission Lagoon, Alyki Lefkimmi, the coastal zone between Kanoni and Messonghi, Korission Lagoon and Lagoudia Islets and Antinioti Lagoon and Fonissa River.
