Mobile Digital Planetarium in Corfu this week

CORFU. The Municipal Welfare, Education and Culture Department has announced that the Mobile Digital Planetarium - Planetarium On The Go will be in Corfu.
Children and adults alike are invited to come and observe the starry sky in a unique audiovisual experience. The Planetarium will be in the Old Town Hall Square (San Giacomo) on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 December.
The Planetarium On The Go (the only one in Greece), a mobile construction with a fixed dome and seating for the public, travels throughout Greece offering the public an exciting journey through the vast space by means of the projection of a digital show on a hemispherical screen in a full dome (360ο).
Along with the projections there will be observations through a telescope of the sun during the day and the starry sky at night if weather conditions allow it.

Planetarium capacity: The Planetarium has 38 seats and can accommodate 45 people - the extra 7 sitting on cushions.

"From Earth to the Universe" (Adults and children over 10)
A unique journey through the universe. After taking a look at astronomy in ancient times, the films takes us through our solar system, the stars, our galaxy and the universe as understood by modern science.
"Kaluoka'hina, The Enchanted Reef" (For 5 years old +)
The film takes us to a reef under the sea - a unique colourful world, full of adventures and dangers, riddles and mysteries, legends and myths. A world inhabited by lovable and quirky creatures with humour and courage.
"The Sun, Our Living Star" (Adults and children over 8)
Discover the secrets of our star in this planetarium show and experience never-before-seen images of the Sun’s violent surface in immersive fulldome format.
"International Space Station - The First Step towards The Planet Mars" (Adults and children over 8)
In 1998 the construction of a satellite which would only be smaller in size and brightness than the moon - the International Space Station (ISS). It was completed in 2011 and is as large as a football field. Discover the role of the ISS in the development of the space programme.
"Stepping On Other Planets" (Adults and children over 8)
The fulldome documentary “Stepping on other planets” describes, in a simple and understandable way-along with stunning visuals and live-action videos, the other planets and the human efforts for the exploration and conquest of the closest to Earth heavenly bodies as the Moon and planet Mars.
"Phantom of the Universe: The Hunt for Dark Matter" (Adults and children over 12)
The show reveals the first hints of the existence of dark matter and journeys across space and time to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, speeding alongside particles before they collide in visually stunning explosions of light and sound, while learning how scientists around the world are collaborating to track down the constituents of dark matter.
'The Earth's Climate" (Adults and children over 6)
The Earth's position in the Solar System creates conditions suitable for the development of life. Discover the features of the planet which determine weather and climate. Ice Ages interchange with warmer periods and a new factor has been added in recent years with Man's intervention in the natural environment. The climate and conditions on Earth are not constant. Humans need to adapt to the new conditions and take measures in order to secure their survival on the surface of this small planet.
