CORFU. The Regional Governor for the Ionian Islands, Theodoros Galiatsatos, met with Nikoletta Pandi, Deputy Governor for Corfu and civil protection coordinator on Monday, to coordinate the optimum response from the Regional administration in the aftermath of this weekend’s thunderstorms.
According to Ms Pandi, task forces have been set up that will initially conduct an audit and then list and evaluate the damages.
Compensation: What the deputy said
Ms Pandi said that claims for compensation will follow the legal procedure, which states that the parties who have suffered damages must make their claim for compensation within two months to either the municipality or the regional administration.
Where should claims be made?
If the damage was to shops, businesses or factories, claims should be made to the regional administration. If the damage was to houses, then the applications for compensation should be submitted to the municipality.
If the damages were agricultural (olive trees, livestock etc), then claimants should speak with the OGA representative for their area.
