CORFU. 18–23 October – Corfu welcomes Britain’s oldest women΄s College for a series of concerts. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the concerts will move indoors to the auditorium of the 7th All-Day Primary School.

One of London’s most historic educational institutions, Queen’s College London, will visit Corfu in October 2026 for a special educational and cultural exchange celebrating music, dance and creative encounters between young people from Britain and Corfu.

Founded in 1848, Queen’s College London was the first British educational institution to offer academic qualifications to women. In 1853, it received a Royal Charter from Queen Victoria and has since maintained a long tradition of education, the arts and international cultural exchange.

The delegation will comprise female students aged 12–17 and members of the College’s teaching staff. The Queen’s College Brass Ensemble and Dance Troupe will travel to Corfu to present a programme combining music from films, musicals and the contemporary international music scene with choreography performed by the students.

During their stay on the island, the students will have the opportunity to experience Corfu’s distinctive musical heritage first-hand and meet pupils, students and musicians from local educational institutions and musical ensembles.

The programme includes a visit and musical exchange with the Corfu Music School, a visit to the museum of the Corfu 'Old' Philharmonic Society, and a traditional Greek dance workshop with the Laodamas Cultural Association. Musical collaborations will also take place with the Corfu Conservatory, the Ionian University and the 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society.

Four open-air concerts will take place as part of the visit:

In the event of adverse weather, the open-air concerts will be moved indoors to the event hall of Corfu’s 7th All-Day Primary School or to the Corfu Gymnastics Club.

The visit aims to build a meaningful bridge between young musicians from the two countries, while highlighting Corfu as a place where music remains a vibrant and integral part of everyday life and the island’s cultural identity.

The event is being held under the auspices of the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands.

Research, programme development and coordination of local partnerships in Corfu are being undertaken by Corfu Music Experiences.
