Art from Rubbish by Kostas Koulouris: 400 objects come to life

CORFU. The innovative art exhibition will be held in Anemomylos from July 27 to August 6.
What happens when imagination and the creative power of human hands breathe new life into the objects we discard every day? Kostas Koulouris answers that question with his unique exhibition, A Little Stone in Recycling, to be held at Anemomylos in Garitsa.
With passion, humour, and a strong ecological conscience, the artist breathes new life into old tyres, oil cans, furniture, and even worn-out boots, proving that art can emerge from the most unexpected places. In his own words:
“ No, I’m not someone from a psychiatric hospital who would spend the summer sitting around painting all these things... I’m simply an everyday person whose imagination is constantly working. I take the things you throw away and turn them into art!”
What you will see at the exhibition
The exhibition extends across both the indoor and outdoor areas of Anemomylos:
In the outdoor area:
- An impressive 3-metre-long reptile made from large sea stones, searching... for grass to eat.
- An original seating area made from wooden reels.
- Car tyres and oil containers transformed into wonderful flower pots, decorated with beautiful natural flowers (a kind donation from the Municipality’s Green Services Department).
- A painted vintage car with a hand-crank mechanism.
In the indoor space:
More than 400 large everyday objects rescued from the rubbish: furniture, chandeliers, children’s toys, seating areas, and... painted size 38 boots, waiting for elegant feet to wear them!
