‘The Pharaoh’s Engineers’ won first prize – Judges were impressed by their strong grasp of physics and engineering.

With a performance that filled the educational community with hope and pride, the young Corfu pupils dominated yesterday’s Panhellenic Robotics Competition Final. Among the 10 teams from the island that swept the medals, the youngest participants stole the show, proving that innovation has no age.

Major distinction in the OPEN category (1st–4th Grade of Primary School)

The team ‘The Pharaoh’s Engineers’ won 1st prize in Engineering Design, leaving judges and audience astonished. Despite their young age, the young ‘scientists’ presented a high-standard project, explaining complex concepts with complete clarity—concepts that challenge even older pupils.

The judges particularly noted that the children have fully grasped the principles of Physics and Mechanics, demonstrating in practice:

  • The function of friction and energy
  • The mechanics of gears
  • The conversion of motion into results through their design

The judging panel, impressed by their maturity and level of expertise, awarded them the title ‘Engineers of the Future,’ recognising their talent for bringing technology to life.

Corfu at the Forefront of Innovation

This success was the “jewel” of an overall showing by 10 teams from Corfu Robotics, Corfu 14th Primary School and 4th Junior High School, who secured a series of first, second, and third places across all categories.

Behind the young champions stood their coaches (Sp. Kontis, N. Kontos, D. Rizos, D. Rozik, El. Tilaveridou) and the regional coordinator of STEM Education for the Ionian Islands, Marios Magioladitis, who believed in the vision of these children.

“They didn’t just win an award. They showed that passion and proper guidance can turn play into science,” attendees commented.

Today’s success of “The Pharaoh’s Engineers” and all the Corfu teams marks a new era for the island, which is now emerging as a breeding ground for young scientists and technological innovation.
