(Central Corfu Municipality) Recently, there have been incidents where materials have come loose from both older and newer buildings, falling onto streets and pavements used daily by residents and visitors.
These include pieces of plaster, sections of marble cladding or balcony parapets, and even parts of roof tiles or bricks.
Property owners are responsible for maintaining their buildings and should have qualified professionals regularly check the stability of these façade elements.
With winter approaching and weather conditions becoming more unpredictable, owners are urged to carry out any necessary repairs right away to prevent injuries to passersby or damage to neighbouring properties.
It is also stressed that every citizen has a duty to act responsibly and with consideration for others by properly maintaining their property. Failing to comply with the law can, among other things, lead to serious criminal penalties.
