Special traffic measures due to arrival of ΄Crown Iris΄ cruise ship - Port Authority announcement

CORFU. The cruise ship is arriving on Thursday 30 October.

The Port Authority Officer, Captain of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Anastasios Schinas, has announced that In view of the need to ensure order and safety during the arrival, berthing, and stay of the cruise vessel CROWN IRIS at the port, and to facilitate the smooth flow of passengers and vehicles, the following temporary measures shall apply:

A. Maritime Traffic and Approach Restrictions

  1. Prohibition:
    All maritime traffic and approach of any kind of motorised or non-motorised floating craft are prohibited within a radius of five hundred (500) metres around the berthing/stay position of the cruise vessel CROWN IRIS at the cruise pier.

  2. Effective Period:
    30 October, from 06:30 to 18:30 hours.

  3. Exemptions:
    The prohibition does not apply to scheduled passenger vessels, passenger–car ferries, and passenger–hydrofoil vessels operating regular services to and from the port.

B. Temporary Traffic Arrangements – Port Land Zone

To support policing and security operations, the following measures shall be in force on 30 October, from 06:00 to 18:00 hours:

  1. Traffic Diversion:
    Vehicle traffic will be diverted via the service road adjacent to the ticket offices (in front of the Port Authority building, parallel to Ethnikis Antistaseos Street).
    Traffic will be directed toward the “Mantouki” or “Emporiko Kentro” areas via Ethnikis Antistaseos Street.

  2. Entry Prohibition (Mantouki Junction):
    Entry of vehicles into the port through the “Mantouki” junction is prohibited.

  3. Exit Diversion (Mantouki Junction):
    Outbound traffic from the “Mantouki” junction toward the town shall be diverted toward the exit lane leading to the “Emporiko Kentro” area along Ethnikis Antistaseos Street.

  4. Exclusive Port Entry Point:
    Vehicle entry into the port area shall be permitted only via the “Sette Venti” roundabout.

C. Sanctions

Any violation of the above measures is subject to penalties in accordance with Article 157 of the Code of Public Maritime Law for maritime and port-related offences, and the Highway Code for traffic violations, without prejudice to any concurrent criminal or civil liabilities.
