26,000 new coronavirus cases a day in Europe
Countries across Europe are reporting a surge in coronavirus cases, with many reporting their highest figures in months. Spain reported 3,715 new infections on Wednesday, Italy reported 642 and Germany noted 1,707 new cases.

Cases on the increase throughout Europe
More than 22 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 around the world now. 14 million people have recovered, and more than 779,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Increased number of cases in Paris and Madrid at the height of summer
People coming to the UK from France and the Netherlands must quarantine for 14 days on Saturday. Travelers are rushing to get back to the UK before the measure comes into force at 0300 GMT. The UK quarantine measures also apply to people traveling from Monaco, Malta, Turks and Caicos and Aruba. France says the UK decision will lead to "reciprocal measures."

Worldwide cases now over 20 million
Worldwide coronavirus cases have surpassed 20.4 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University. More than 12.7 million people have recovered from the virus and 745,000 have died.

Summer spike in cases
Russia has reported the largest number of new cases in Europe in the past 24 hours. More than 900,000 people have now tested positive in the country, after 5,102 new infections were recorded.

Passengers from infected ship file lawsuit against cruise company - complaints include manslaughter
Passengers who were stuck on an infected cruise ship having been turned away from several ports in March have filed a lawsuit against cruise company. The 850 French passengers, which included the families of three people who died of the virus on the ship, filed 180 complaints, including manslaughter, their lawyer confirmed.

Europe now more experienced in dealing with the new (?) phenomena
Russia΄s daily cases rose by 5,394 in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 856,264. Deaths also rose, by 79 to 14,207.

Globally, 14.9 million people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, nearly 8.5 million have recovered and nearly 616,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
