Three Corfu athletes win medals at Balkan Under-20 Championships

SOFIA. Panayiotis Mantzouroyiannis and Panayiota Dosi won gold medals and Spyridoula Karydi won bronze.
The three Corfu athletes put in excellent performances at the Balkan Under-20 Championships in Sofia.
Spyridoula Karydi did well in the triple jump. The 17-year-old athlete improved on her personal best of 12.68m with 12.70m – breaking the Korasides record – and then 12.97, putting her in second place and breaking the record of 12.93m that had stood since 2003.
She also took part in the long jump and won the bronze medal with 5.94m.
Panayiotis Mantzouroyiannis won the gold medal in the long jump with 7.69m – improving on his own personal best of 7.60m from earlier this year.
Panayiota Dosi won the gold medal in the high jump with 1.79m. The young athlete, who trains with her father, Theodoros Dosis, unsuccessfully attempted 1.83m in an effort to break the Greek record.
