CORFU. "A breastfeeding-friendly community contributes to supporting the good health of infants and their families."

(Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality) As part of the collaboration between the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands with the Institute of Child Health, the launch of the pilot programme "Breastfeeding-Friendly Communities for the Promotion of Breastfeeding – AMALTHEA" has been announced.

The project aims, through the formation of a framework for collaboration among local community organisations, to systematically and comprehensively organise actions to strengthen the culture of breastfeeding in the local community, as well as to create a community friendly to breastfeeding mothers.

The launch of the programme will take place at the Ionian Parliament buliding (Moustouksidou 3), on 18 Friday October 2024, at 7:00pm. There will be an informative lecture, detailing the actions for the involved organisations, while there will also be a photography exhibition for the public, by the Corfu Photography Club, on the subject of breastfeeding.

The exhibition is open to public during the following days and hours:

Friday 18 October, from 5:30-9:00pm and Sunday 19 October, from 10:00am to 2:00pm and  5:30-9:00pm.

A breastfeeding-friendly community plays a crucial role in supporting the good health of infants and their families, improving public health outcomes, eliminating social discrimination and promoting a culture of inclusion and support for all families.
