CORFU. Over the last ten years a large number of Corfu mothers have been participating in this effort to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding.
The 13th National Simultaneous Breastfeeding in Public, organised by the Panhellenic Network of Volunteer Support Groups for Breastfeeding and Maternity, aims to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding. A large number of Corfu mothers have been participating over the last ten years and this year will be in the People's Garden on Sunday 6 November from 11:00 for around two hours.
The initiative began in 2010 with a few mothers taking part, who wanted to provide voluntary support to other mothers and help them learn how to breastfeed. It became an annual event with simultaneous breastfeeding in public and is now a symbol for Breastfeeding Week in Greece.
It has now been going for 13 years and in its own unique way raises awareness and provides support for new mothers, not just with printed materials or talks, but in a practical way 'mother to mother'.
