Programme of events for 25th March national anniversary

CORFU. The programme was announced by the Ionian Islands Regional Authority.
The Ionian Islands Regional Authority has announced the schedule of events for the celebration of Greece’s National Anniversary on March 25th.
Monday, March 24
- Speeches at primary and secondary schools about the significance of the anniversary and the decoration of schools with flags.
- 12:00 PM: Wreath-laying ceremony at the town's War Memorial by students, pupils, scouts and guides, led by teachers and officials. A ceremonial unit including students, pupils, scouts, guides, and the Philharmonic Band will participate.
Parallel Events
- General flag decoration from 8:00 AM on March 23rd until sunset on March 25th.
- Illumination of all public and municipal buildings, as well as the premises of public institutions and banks, on the evenings of March 24th and 25th.
- Decoration and illumination of docked ships on March 24th and 25th, under the supervision of Corfu Central Port Authority.
Tuesday, March 25
- 08:00 AM: Flag-raising at the Cross Mast of the New Fortress, with a military unit present.
- 10:55 AM: Arrival of officials at the Metropolitan Church of the Virgin Spilaiotissa.
- 11:00 AM: Official Thanksgiving Service (Doxology) led by Archbishop Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos, and the Diapontia Islands. The keynote speech will be delivered by Alexandra Tzouma, Principal of the Corfu Music School.
- 11:30 AM: Memorial service and wreath-laying at the War Memorial by government representatives, regional and local officials, university and security force leaders, and other dignitaries. A minute of silence will be observed in memory of the fallen heroes.
- 12:15 PM: Memorial service and wreath-laying at the statue of Ioannis Capodistrias by government and regional officials.
- 12:30 PM: Memorial service and wreath-laying at the statue of Greece’s National Poet, Dionysios Solomos.
- 12:45 PM: Parade on Agoniston Polytechniou Street, including war veterans, students, pupils scouts, military units, police, fire service, and coast guard, accompanied by the Philharmonic Bands Corfu Philharmonic Society, "Spyros Samaras," and "Capodistrias".
- 6:40 PM: Flag-lowering at the New Fortress.
