Protests over municipal taxes continuing

CORFU. No progress at the discussion at the Central Municipal Council, in the presence of stakeholders.
With the disagreement over the key figures that ultimately determine the municipal taxes, the discussion continued at the Central Corfu Municipal Council. The mayor presented a financial services report showing that the cost of waste management was around €25 million, while Seremitis, who was Deputy Mayor under Ydraios, insisted that during his tenure, the cost did not exceed €17 million.
Meanwhile, following a proposal by Takkis Metallinos, the opposition and stakeholders (OEBK, the Trade Association, and permanent residents) maintained their demand for the reversal of the decision to increase municipal taxes. However, the municipal authority stood by its position, insisting that the increases were necessary.
The matter is expected to continue with the adjudication of appeals against the decision by the Decentralised Administration, as well as lawsuits filed by citizens in administrative courts.
