CORFU. The Prosecutor has been informed about the case. According to information received, the young man was staying alone in the hotel.
Late last night, shortly after midnight, there was a commotion in the Spilia area when a hotel guest threatened to jump from his room window. For unknown reasons, the 20-year-old Greek had locked himself in his room and, having climbed onto the external unit of the air conditioner, threatened to jump.
The Fire Department and the police rushed to the scene with negotiators, and the area was cordoned off. Directly below the window where the man was standing, firefighters deployed an inflatable mattress in case of a fall.
Finally, after negotiations, the man was persuaded to go back into the room and unlock the door, and after a conversation, he managed to calm down. The young man was initially taken to Corfu Police Station and subsequently to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He is currently being held at Corfu Police Station, and the Prosecutor has been informed about the incident.
According to information received, the 20-year-old was staying alone in the hotel, and at no point during the entire incident did he express any specific demands.
