Checks on tourist coaches in Corfu and Zakynthos

CORFU. During the period from March to May, 507 vehicles were inspected, and 160 violations were confirmed.
Corfu and Zakynthos Police conducted systematic checks of tourist coaches from March to May, focusing on compliance with regulations concerning tachographs and driver rest periods.
507 vehicles were inspected, and 160 violations were confirmed (129 in Corfu and 31 in Zakynthos), which included:
- 45 for insufficient daily rest,
- 18 for exceeding continuous driving time,
- 10 for exceeding weekly driving time,
- 9 for driving with another driver's card,
- 2 for lack of seat belts,
- 1 for worn tyres,
- 34 for exceeding the speed limit
- 41 for improper operation of the tachograph and incorrect use of recording sheets.
Administrative penalties were imposed on the drivers and the coach companies as applicable.
According to the statement from the Ionian Islands Regional Police Department, similar checks will continue throughout the summer season.
