Owner who kept eight dogs in squalid conditions arrested

A 60-year-old woman was arrested yesterday for keeping eight dogs in miserable conditions. The woman, following a complaint, was arrested for violations of animal welfare and environmental protection laws.
Following up on the complaint, the Achilleion Police Department found eight dogs on the property of the 60-year-old woman, as well as the accumulation of waste, without complying with the rules for animal welfare and hygiene conditions in the surrounding area.
She was fined the prescribed administrative penalty, totalling 9,800 Euros.
Charges were brought against her for offences of violating animal welfare and environmental protection laws, and she was taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
