CORFU. There was no interest from buyers.

Once again, the former Desyllas industrial complex, spanning 37 stremma, remained unsold, as today's online auction concluded fruitlessly due to lack of interest.

The property went under the hammer for the third time, with the starting price reduced to €6,589,600 (80% of the originally set €8,237,000), offered by Piraeus Bank to cover the owners' debts amounting to €500,000.

However, during the two-hour auction (10 a.m. - 12 p.m.), there were no interested parties.

The former industrial complex was first auctioned online on November 8, 2023, with a starting price of €8.23 million, but it remained unsold due to lack of bidders. The same happened during the repeat auction on February 21, 2024.

Municipality

Central Corfu Mayor, Stefanos Poulimenos, has expressed the political will to negotiate directly and through bank financing in order for this significant landmark, which possesses archaeological treasures as well as evidence of Corfu's industrial history, to come under the ownership of the Municipality. Its acquisition could be utilised for the benefit of cultural, educational, and other needs of Corfu.
