CORFU. For the creation of the website recycle.corfu.gr.
The Central Corfu Municipality was awarded for its environmental actions in this year's 'Greek Green Awards 2023'. It was awarded the 'Environmental Information' award in the category 'Environmental Awareness - Environmental Education' at the Verde Tec exhibition.
The Central Corfu Municipality was awarded for creating the website recycle.corfu.gr, which is the first municipal website on all issues related to recycling.
Online guide
The website recycle.corfu.gr is an easy-to-use online guide, which helps citizens to participate effectively in the alternative waste management and especially to reduce their mistakes in sorting at source.
It also effectively informs them about the available separate collection solutions for waste streams already offered within the Municipality.
The website created by the Municipality is available in both Greek and English and has more than 18,000 views to date.
The Deputy Mayor for European Programmes, Development and Digital Governance Panayiota Tzanne, who is also the local ICC project manager, received the award on behalf of the Municipality. The circular economy expert Viktoras Dimoulis contributed to the creation of the website.
The Deputy Mayor Panayiota Tzanne stated the following: "The Municipality of extroversion, which is becoming a model of environmental actions, is here. The Municipality that received negative comments for its performance in cleanliness and the environment belongs to the past. We are moving forward with modern digital means and within the standards of European municipalities and cities".
