CORFU. Demand has dropped. Prices are expected to drop slightly.
Following a short period of respite consumers are once again faced with increases in fuel prices. As in the rest of the country prices in Corfu are rising again.
Unleaded petrol has gone up by €0.08 per litre and heating oil by €0.08-0.09. Today the former is being sold at just under €2 - ranging from €1.936 to €1.95 - and diesel is at €1.83 per litre.
As is to be expected, these increases have had an impact on demand with drivers limiting themselves to buying €10-20 worth of petrol.
Heating oil
The price of heating oil is €1.33-1.34 per litre and Corfu dealers have said that there has been a noticeable decrease in demand as most consumers took advantage of the recent subsidies to purchase oil and orders are now at a standstill.
Even those who are ordering heating oil are limiting themselves to 200-300 litres due to economic difficulties and the general rise in the cost of living. According to Corfu fuel dealers, prices are expected to drop slightly shortly - by around €0.02-0.08 per litre depending on the type of fuel.
