CORFU. The price has dropped by almost €0.30 per litre since it became available in October.

The drop in the price of heating oil in Corfu has led to an increase in orders with customers hurrying to take advantage. Filling stations have expressed their satisfaction with the way things have been going over the last month following the initial hesitancy from consumers due to the increased price when oil first became available.

The price has dropped by almost €0.30 per litre - €1.19-1.20, including the subsidies to the vendors, compared to €1.48-1.49 in October.

5-10 deliveries a day

All the filling stations are now receiving 5-10 orders per day on average. Nevertheless, due to the increased cost of living, households are still not ordering large amounts - 200 to 500 litres at the most, spending €300-40 on average.

Price of petrol drops below €2

The price of petrol has also dropped over the last week and is on sale at most Corfu filling stations for under €2, with a further decrease expected.

Businesses stress, however, that customers are still not purchasing large amounts as the price is still considered high. According to the Ministry of Development Liquid Fuel Price Monitor, 95 unleaded petrol was available for €1.93-1.98 at Corfu filling stations yesterday.

Filling station owners say that the average spend is €20-30 with very few spending money to fill up their tanks.

With further price decreases expected in the coming days, filling station owners are advising people not to fill up completely right now but to wait for the lower prices.
